Detailed work on the La Massana anticline reveals that it represents a structural unit bounded by late thrusts. Its internal structure results from the superposition of premainphase and mainphase folds. This complex structure is not reflected in the cartographic pattern which had been interpreted as a simple anticline. As a result, the revision of the previously defined major structural units from the Variscan rocks cropping out in the Pyrenees is posed.
