The iñfluence of the Triassic Diapir of Zarautz upon the sedimentation of the coarse-grained deep-water deposits of Paleocene age situated near Orio (Gipuzkoa) is assessed by mean of a detailed geological mapping, coupled with stratigraphical and sedimentological analysis. Such influence is found to be important but local, being most marked duñng the early Paleocene, diminishing thenceforward and becoming small during the early Ypresian. The diapir caused facies and thickness changes, plus some paleocurrent diversion, but it is not responsible for the bulk of the resedimentation processes, which were largely trigered by eustatic sea-level changes
