Partiendo de esa forma de dominio (saber-poder-poseer) que los hombres siempre han ejercido sobre los demás seres vivos y que entraña asimismo reducir la diferencia de lo otro, de lo extraño, a una economía de lo mismo, y frente a la «incapacidad » de tantos pensamientos filosóficos de superar las tradicionales posiciones de indiferencia cuando no de violencia con «el» animal, este artículo, que reivindica la hospitalidad (con el) animal, muestra asimismo que, desde sus textos más tempranos hasta los últimos, Derrida nunca ha dejado de reflexionar sobre estas cuestiones no sólo con vistas a deconstruir ese presunto límite, único y sin fisuras, entre el hombre y el animal sino igualmente con vistas a reivindicar un vivir-juntos de los seres vivos que respete la singularidad radical de cada cual.

Starting from that form of dominance (knowledge - power - ownership) that men have always exercised over the rest of the living beings and that entails reducing the difference of the other, the strange, to an economy of the self; facing the "inability" of so many philosophical trends to overcome the traditional positions of indifference -if not violence- with "the" animal, this article, which vindicates animal hospitality and hospitality with the animal, puts forward a Derrida who's never ceased to reflect upon these questions from his earlier to his latest texts. He not only wanted to deconstruct the presumable, unique and unbreakable limit between man and the animal, he also seemed to vindicate a living-together of living beings respectful of everyone's radical singularity.
