Resumen de Estructuración de los prismas litorales del Cabo de Gata:: respuesta a los cambios climático-eustáticos holocenos.

Francisco Javier Hernández Molina, Luis Somoza, Juan Tomás Vázquez, Javier Rey Sanz

  • The internal structuration of the littoral wedge has been made by means of high resolution seismic stratigraphy analysis in front of Cabo de Cata sector (Almeria). Four seismic units have been described: Seismic Unit 7.- stratified with sigmoidal to parallel reflection configuration, related to coastal bodies latteraly associated with submarine terraces, Seismic Unit 2 - transparent with aggradational reflection configuration; Seismic Unit 3.- Weak to transparent with aggradational reflection configuration; and Seismic Unit 4.- progradational unit be made up of two minor subunits; 4J stratified with sigmoidal progradational reflection configuration and 4J stratified with a tangential-oblique progradational reflection configuration. The present littoral wedge has been developed by the coastal progradation during the last highstand general trend of the sea level during the last 6.500 years BP. This general sea level trend was modulated by minor higher frecuency sea level oscilations. In this way, both sedimentary bodies 41 and 42 are correlated with the two minor sea level falls in the las 6.5000 years BP; the first one (4,) is correlated with the 6.000 to 3.800 years BP regressive sea level phase, and the second one ( 4 f is correlated with the 2.300 to 1000 years B.P. regressive sea level phase
