ESCOLHAS VOCACIONAIS DOS JOVENS: PROJETOS PESSOAIS OU PROJETOS FAMILIARES?

    Adolescence is a stage in the development of profound changes, in which they come tasks and questions that have an impact on the adolescent and his/her family. One of the most important tasks that the teenager faces is to make a career choice. There are several factors that influence this choice, some of a more individualized character, such as the political and religious beliefs, expectations, interests, values and beliefs, others with an eminently contextual and historical social sense, such as family, pairs, school, media, community and the social and political/economic situation of the country. The family as a fundamental part in the construction of these life projects, can influence the present and future choices of adolescents when transmitting the interests, values, beliefs and meanings to children, besides designing on them, frequently, the expectations they did not have the opportunity to perform in their lives. Thus, the choices depend not only on the intraindividual characteristics and expectations of young people, but they are impregnated with the knowledge and meanings they have about their parents projects, their process of identification and sense of belonging to the family, the value given to the professions of their significant network, as well as the way the young uses and prepares family data. This article aims to promote a reflection about the factors that may influence the vocational choices of young people, stressing that they enroll and are part of a larger project: the familiar (Young et al, 2001; Young, 2004).

    A adolescência é uma etapa do desenvolvimento de profundas mudanças, na qual surgem tarefas e questionamentos que se repercutem sobre o adolescente e a sua família. Uma das tarefas mais relevantes com que o adolescente se confronta é a realização de uma escolha vocacional. Vários são os factores que influenciam essa escolha, uns de carácter mais individualizado como, as convicções políticas e religiosas, expectativas, interesses, valores e crenças, outros com sentido eminentemente contextual e histórico social como, a família, os pares, a escola, os media, a comunidade e a situação social e político-económica do país. A família, como parte fundamental na construção destes projetos de vida, pode influenciar as escolhas presentes e futuras dos adolescentes ao transmitirem interesses, valores, crenças e significados aos filhos, além de, frequentemente, projetarem neles as expectativas que não tiveram oportunidade de realizarem nas suas vidas. Assim, as escolhas não dependem somente das características intraindividuais e expectativas dos jovens, mas estão impregnadas do conhecimento e significados que têm do projeto dos pais, do seu processo de identificação e sentimento de pertença à família, do valor dado às profissões da sua rede de significativos, bem como a maneira como o jovem utiliza e elabora os dados familiares. Este artigo visa promover a reflexão sobre os fatores que podem influenciar as escolhas vocacionais dos jovens, sublinhando que elas se inscrevem e fazem parte de um projeto mais amplo: o familiar (Young et al, 2001; Young, 2004).
