Single channel very high resolution seismic profiles allow us to study in detail the sedimentary architecture of the Culf of Cadiz fSouth of Spain) continental margin. The main ¿ate Quaternary sedimentary architecture is built up of Type 7 asymmetrical depositional sequences generated by 4th order asymmetrical relative sea-level changes (100-110 k.y.), and composed by: a Forced Regressive Wedge Systems Tract (FRWST); a Lowstand Systems Tract (LST); a Transgressive Systems Tract (TST); and a Highstand Systems Tract (HST). The 4th order depositional sequences are themselves in turn consist of minor asymmetrical depositional sequences generated by 5th order asymmetrical relative sea-level changes (22-23 k.y). At short time scales, for the last 80 k.y B.P., minor depositional sequences has been recognised which ive related to hlgher-frequency asymmetrical relative sea-level cycles in different time scales: Heinrich events (10 to 75 k.y.); P cycles (4000-4500 yrs.); Dansgaard-Oeschger oscillations-h cycles (2300-970 yrs) and c cycles (500-50 yrs.)
