The sedimentology, taphonomy and paleontology (Molluscs and Foraminiferids) of the Pliocene in the Asilah Basin are studied. On the basis of the plankton, a Lower Pliocene age is pointed out for the Basin (co-occurrence of Cloborotalia margaritae and Globorotalia puncticulata). 45 tax a of Benthic Foraminiferids and 91 of Mollusca (mainly Bivalves) are recorded. The assemblages are interpreted as living in infralittoral stormy and warm depositionsI environments
