En esta investigación se analiza "la inquietante extrañeza" (lo siniestro en el sentido freudiano) que genera en la evidencia de la historia la articulación que hace Ricoeur entre memoria e historia. No hay historia sin memoria, es decir, no hay historia sin testigos o documentos de lo ya acontecido; pero la hisotira se disgingue de la ememoria por muchos aspectos. Entre ellos el de que la historia a diferencia de la memoria se cristaliza en la escritura. De aquí lo siniestro ( o paradójico) del sabes histórico: la historia se hace a partir de la memoria, pero se hace para diferenciarse de ella.

This research probes "the disquieting strangeness" (The uncanny in Freud's sense) that history takes on when Ricoeur, dispelling the acepted evidence, examines what binds the discipline to memory. There is no history without memory, that is, history is not possible without the existence of witnesses or documents related to the events; still, history is nonetheless different from memory in a number of regards - among these, the fact that, unlike memory, history crystallizes in writing. Hence the uncanny (or paradoxical) nature of historical knowledge: even though history is founded on memory, its making aims to differentiate it from the workings of remembrance.
