Results of quantitative analysis of subsidence and uplift from three stratigraphic sections located In the northern margin of the Guadix basin are presented. Data obtained allows for correlating main tectonic events recorded in the basin with significative changes in the subsidence and uplift history. At the beginning of Tortonian a strong subsidence stage takes place, which ends with the development of a marine basin of 800 metres of palaeobatimetry. Intratortonian and finitortonian tectonic events are characterized by uplift and shallowing stages of the basin. After continentalization, a process that occurs at the end of Tortonian, the basin continues with an uplift period that finishes during the Upper Pleistocene. At this time takes place the fulfilling of the basin at WOO metres of palaeoelevalion
