Resumen Las personas sometidas a cirugía laríngea radical (laringectomía total) presentan, entre otros, problemas relacionados con la pérdida de voz y la imagen corporal. Los cambios en sus relaciones sociales suelen propiciar sentimientos de aislamiento, rechazo, angustia y stress psicológico. Es por ello que precisan del apoyo familiar y de una correcta información para vencer las dificultades inherentes a este tipo de procesos. El caso del informante de este relato biográfico es un buen ejemplo de ello. La narración de G refleja el gran impacto psicológico que sufrió a raíz del diagnóstico y la intervención quirúrgica; y lo difícil de su adaptación física, psíquica y social. Ha demostrado una vez más, que la información juega un papel importantísimo, y que, aún pareciendo que está todo explicado siempre quedan preguntas. Nos recuerda que lo más importante de esta vida es "estar vivo" y que como luchador nato que es, se prepara para el día a día.

Abstract (Perioperative experience of a laryngectomized patient) Laryngectomized patients usually have problems related to their looking, the loss of their voice and their social lifes where they can feel reject, isolation, anxiety and psychological stress. So that, they need support of the family and appropriated information in order to overcome their difficulties. Patient's case is a good example about it. The story of G shows the enormous size of the psychological impact he suffered caused by the diagnosis and the surgery. Also, he tells how difficult physic, psychological and social adaptation was. The importance of information has been proved, even when we believe everything is explained there are always more questions. This story remind us the most important thing in the life: being alive. He is a model fighter; he prepares his new daily life.
