Resumen de Estimación de la biodiversidad en agroecología
Manejar holísticamente los sistemas agrícolas, es uno de los principios centrales de la agroecología. Para lograr esto, es indispensable trascender la visión reduccionista imperante en las ciencias agrícolas convencionales. En la agroecología, es necesario disponer de herramientas prácticas que permitan evaluar situaciones agrícolas sistémicamente. Lamentablemente, son pocos los instrumentos concretos con los que cuenta el agroecólogo para realizar esta tarea. En este trabajo, se propone un nuevo índice para evaluar la agrobiodiversidad, índice que permite evaluar el sistema como un todo. En este índice, aparte de evaluar la riqueza y abundancia de los elementos del sistema, también se toma en cuenta su interacción, esto permite evaluar atributos funcionales de la agrobiodiversidad. Aquí se muestra mediante ejemplos simples, algunas de las ventajas de este nuevo índice.
Abstract: The holistic management of farming systems is one of the central principles of the agroecology. To accomplish this, it is essential to transcend the reductionist vision prevailing in conventional agricultural sciences. In agroecology, it is needed to have practical tools to evaluate agricultural situations systemically. Unfortunately, there are few concrete tools to perform this task. In this work, it is proposed a new index to measure agrobiodiversity. This index allows the evaluation of the system as a whole. In this index, besides of measuring the richness and abundance of the elements of the system, it is also taken into account their interaction. This allows the evaluation of functional attributes of the agrobiodiversity. Here is shown through simple examples some of the advantages of this new index.
