Resumen de De los orígenes del Paso Encarnado en el arrabal de San Cristóbal

  Este artículo analiza la fundación en el barrio lorquino de San Cristóbal en la década de los 60 del siglo XIX de la Hermandad de la Sangre de Cristo, conocida popularmente como Paso Encarnado. En principio nos referiremos a la cofradía que bajo el mismo título existió en Lorca desde mediados del siglo XVI, extinguida en las primeras décadas del siglo XIX, para seguidamente repasar la historia del convento de San Diego, sede entonces de la nueva hermandad. Se destaca asimismo la importancia de San Cristóbal, barrio en el que quedaron establecidas las fábricas de paños, actividad a la que estuvieron vinculados profesionalmente la mayor parte de los fundadores del nuevo Paso. Por último daremos noticias de la participación de la Archicofradía en las procesiones de Semana Santa a finales del XIX y primeros años del XX, para acabar en 1935, fecha en la que, tras superar una etapa de decadencia, el Paso Encarnado vuelve a reactivarse.

  This article discusses the foundation, in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, during the 6th decade of the nineteenth century, of the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz y Sangre de Cristo, popularly known as Paso Encarnado. First we will refer to the confraternity that, with the same name, existed in Lorca from the middle of the XVI century, which became extinct in the early decades of the nineteenth century. Next, we will review the history of the convent of San Diego, then headquarters of the new brotherhood. It is also noteworthy the importance of the neighborhood of San Cristobal, where factories of cloths were established, an activity associated to most of the founders of the new confraternity. Finally we will contribute with some news about the participation of the Archconfraternity in the Holy Week processions at the end of the XIX century and the first years of the twentieth century, and the report finishes in 1935, when, after overcoming a period of decline, the Paso Encarnado is reactivated.
