  Posing a look at the situation of children infected by HIV and whose parents are infected or have died of AIDS, we see anguish, anxiety, depressive ideas, discrimination, stigmatization, denial of their rights, precarity and social and economic vulnerability. Add to this the taboos surrounding any discussion of AIDS in Haiti. This article explores the necessity for any psychosocial support that aims to help the psychological well-being of these children to consider the cultural representations and the popular beliefs that may hamper their psychosocial development. This study was conducted among a group of children infected by HIV and supported in a program of Saint Damien Hospital in Port-au-Prince which considers the cultural and social factors associated with AIDS. Thus, this paper links the psychological well-being of these children to the integration of concept of culture in their psychosocial support.

  En posant un regard sur la situation des enfants infectés par le VIH et dont les parents sont infectés ou morts du Sida on remarque angoisse, anxiété, idées dépressives, discrimination, stigmatisation, déni de leurs droits, précarité et vulnérabilité sociale et économique. À cela s'ajoutent les tabous qui entourent tout débat sur le SIDA en Haïti. Cet article explore la nécessité pour tout appui psychosocial qui vise à aider au bien-être psychologique de ces enfants de prendre en compte les représentations culturelles et les croyances populaires qui peuvent entraver le développement psychosocial. Ce travail a été effectué auprès d'un groupe d'enfants infectés au VIH et pris en charge dans un programme de l'hôpital Saint Damien à Port-au-Prince qui prend en compte les facteurs culturels et sociaux liés au Sida. Ainsi, cet article lie le mieux-être psychologique de ces enfants à l'intégration du concept de culture dans leur prise en charge psychosociale.
