  • Resumen
    • Italian Regions now have less momentum (and in some cases less power) than a few years ago. The severe financial crisis that hit Europe questions the extemporaneous and sham Italian “federalism” urging new choices of the central government.

The financial crisis poses, rather, the problem of building, at a supranational level, more solid European structures inspired by federalism. Yet the Regions remain essential to renew the State and, in addition, are today an indispensable means to meet the challenges of globalization. The mission of regional government and the framework within which they should operate is, in any case, yet to be specified.
