Anthelmintic effect of gentianella thyrsoidea and punica granatum against syphacia obvelata in bal-53 male mice

    • In Peru, traditional medicine has been widely used against intestinal parasites, and its frequent use in rural areas where gastrointestinal helminths have a high prevalence. The effect anthelmintic plants Gentianella thyrsoidea and Punica granatum against the nematode from Family Oxyuridae Syphacia obvelata was evaluated. Experimental study in 40 Bal-53 male mice divided into four groups, two controls and two experimental. Treatment was administered orally using a dose of 3g/kg for 3 consecutive days and the fourth day the mice were sacrificed by cervical dislocation. The results were analyzed using ANOVA, Tukey test, Test of means; using SPSS 19. Results: Regarding the negative control group treated with 50mg/kg Mebendazole obtained an efficiency of 95.4%, while G. thyrsoidea and P. granatum showed an efficiency of 88.9% and 88.2% respectively (p <0.05). G. thyrsoidea and P. granatum showed anthelmintic activity with statistically significant efficacy against Syphacia obvelata in Bal-53 in mice.
