Resumen de Acontecimientos estéticos en contextos urbanos fóbicos

El artículo reúne, contextualiza y analiza la producción y servicio de algunos de los efectos estéticos generados tras la alerta epidemiológica por el virus AH1N1, que obtuvo su nivel máximo de alerta en junio de 2009 según Margarita Chang, directora general de la OMS. A través de los conceptos de disciplinamiento corporal y topofobia, y de la categoría foucaultiana de biopolítica, se construye un marco explicativo de los fenómenos simbólicos productores de miedo urbano que da lugar para una lectura semiótica de dos experiencias estéticas concretas (performance-body art y monumento-land art), las cuales permiten ver cómo el arte se sirve de los efectos simbólicos que desean triunfar sobre el Mal y, de paso, confirmar hasta dónde la conjunción saber-médico/poder-discursivo no sólo cambian los modos de vida de los sujetos y las formas emocionales de significar sus paisajes urbanos, sino también cómo los canales, espacios y mecanismos estéticos se ubican como un lugar por medio del cual se reacciona para conjurar los miedos instituidos de forma masiva.

This article brings together, contextualizes and analyzes the production and use of some of the aesthetic effects generated after the epidemiological state of alert regarding the AH1N1 virus, which obtained its highest level in June of 2009, according to Margarita Chang, general director of the World Health Organization. The concepts of corporal disciplining and topophobia, as well as the Foucaultian category of bio-politics, are used to construct an explanatory framework for symbolic phenomena which produce urban fear; this in turn gives way to a semiotic reading of two concrete aesthetic experiences (performance/body art and monument/land art) that allow us to see how art feeds on the symbolic effects of conquering Evil, but also confirms to what point the conjunction between medical knowledge and discursive power alter the ways of life of subjects and emotional forms of giving meaning to urban landscapes. Finally, this paper shows how aesthetic channels, spaces and mechanisms create spaces for conjuring mass-created fears.
