Resumen de Inconsistency in Clinical Measurements Can Be Improved Through Training: Comment on Standardizing Training for Psoriasis Measures

Robert A. Swerlick

  • This quote has been attributed to W. Edwards Deming, an American whose ideas revolutionized Japanese manufacturing after World War II. For most of my practice lifetime, trust of patients and insurers in physicians placed doctors in an almost God-like status. However, the times and expectations have changed; the public's and payer's perceptions of physicians have moved substantially away from perceiving physicians in this former light. Physicians, including those of us who practice dermatology, also now increasingly must foster and maintain trust with data. The challenges this presents are substantial: to create and maintain a data-driven practice culture in medicine, particularly in dermatology.
