The author analyses and comments Pallucchini's early work, a very interesting critical esasy about contemporary art: the review of the most important exhibition during the Fascism period, "Prima Quadriennale d'Arte Nazionale" in 1931. On the author's opinion, Pallucchini's knowledge of this moment in Italian art is considered as the beginning of his cultural engagement: from 1948 till 1956 he holded the office of Segretario Generale at Venice Biennale. Therefore, Pallucchini soon followed two main scopes of his research: Venetian art and Giambattista Piazzetta together with contemporary art.
