G. Allegra was a leading figure in biblical studies and sinology during the middle of 20th century. His attempt to provide an actualized Chinese translation of the Bible for Catholics has produced an enormous version, with commentary, of more than 10,000 pages, a common version, and a Biblical Dictionary. The article reconstructs the stages of translation, stressing the ways and methodology Allegra has applied to his enterprise.
