  • Resumen
    • On 23 May 1576, King Frederik II of Denmark bestowed the little island of Hveen in Øresund upon the nobleman Tycho Brahe. The King also gave him the toll income from the Øresund crossing to help build a castle as an appropriate residence for his family and servants and to provide space for an academy that would research into astronomy and other natural sciences. In addition, Tycho Brahe was granted well-paid posts and offices, including that of Royal Astrologist with the task of making horoscopes for the King and his family.
