Objective: To follow the evolution of plasmatic concentrations of mycophenolic acid (MPA) during the immunosuppression induction phase in a group of people with heart transplants, by calculating the area under the curve (AUQ as a possible prognosis factor for the incidence of graft rejection. Methods: Study of intrasubject measures, observational, longitudinal, prospective in a case series, 54 complete reports of 4 samples gathered in an interval of 6 hours post-dose. Blood samples of 14 patients obtained at the intensive care unit. The AUC 0-6h was calculated by trapezoidal method and statistical data analysis with SPSS v. 11. Results: The correlation between the AUC 0-6h and the pre-dose concentration presented an r 2: (0.181). The abbreviated equation with a larger r 2 of one point: AUC = 7,373 + 3,313 C 3h. Conclusions: The MPA levels in the third hour post-dose presented the best linear relation to AUC 0-6h, the abbreviated equations that encompass such a point are chosen with the purpose of optimizing the dosage of mycophenolate mofetil
