Public libraries around the world have faced a number of challenges over the past decade and the pressures of modern life, such as decreasing numbers of loans, stretched budgets, and the need for marketing, are changing the traditional aspects of the music library in the public library system, Public libraries, however, remain important in the lives of many people, providing open access and professional guidance to knowledge for all ages. This issue provides an overview of the international world of public music libraries from Turkey to Japan and offers some innovative solutions to problems we all face in our libraries, public, private, or academic.
