Es innegable que los avances tecnológicos han tenido y tienen un impacto muy significativo en la actividad delincuencial que utiliza estos en beneficio propio, pero no se debe obviar las vías de investigación tradicionales ya que las investigaciones tecnológicas por si solas pueden ser muy costosas en medios económicos y humanos y conducir a vías muertas. No solo existe internet dentro de los avances tecnológicos a investigar, también la telefonía fija (ADSL Y RDSI), telefonía móvil (tarjetas prepago), telefonía vía satélite (actividades transcontinentales), microcámaras y lectores de tarjeta y sistemas de impresión offset.

There is no doubt that technological developments have had, and still have, a considerable impact on criminal activities which make use of it for its own benefit, but traditional investigation methods cannot be obviated, since technological research itself may be too expensive in economic and human resources and lead to a dead end. Technological advanced in investigation are not just Internet but also fixed telephony (ADSL and RDSI), mobile telephony (prepayment cards), telephony via satellite (transcontinental activities), micro-cameras and card readers and offset printing systems.
