Resumen de Immagini musive e pittoriche di San Michele Arcangelo in San Pietro
This article presents for the first time two works (a painting and drawing) of Luigi Durantini (1791-1857) both depicting the bust of St. Michael the Archangel. The drawing was recently found among the papers of the Historical Archive of Fabbrica di San Pietro and the painting, an oil on canvas not very well known, is still kept at the offices of the Fabbrica di San Pietro in the Vatican. The painting was executed by Durantini as a preparatory cartoon of a mosaic made and finally concluded in the year 1835 by Gherardo Volponi (1812-1869).
