  • Although identity has recently attracted considerable attention in the economic literature it has not yet received the analytic investment that it merits. This is because of the extremely limited way in which homo oeconomicus has been characterized in economics. In this paper I discuss the nature of identity, how it affects economic behavior and present some of the work done on this subject and examine some of the models that have been proposed.
