Las obras pías, aparte de su carácter eminentemente social, constituyeron un instrumento de prestigio social con una estrategia socioeconómica bastante elaborada encaminada principalmente a beneficiar a los familiares de sus fundadores. Aquí hablamos de los mecanismos de dicha estrategia y tratamos, como ejemplo, dos de las dotaciones a otras tantas mujeres huérfanas de su familia, por parte de una de dichas obras pías, el patronato que fundó Diego Delgado de la Chica.
