The article discusses the failure of U.S.'s counter insurgency strategy (COIN) deployed in Afghanistan. It notes an increased decline in U.S.'s hegemony due to its inability to win a war via COIN-like strategies and the over commitment and drain the strategies place on the U.S. military. It indicates that the mistakes and misuse of COIN which drained the U.S. to respond to other conflicts should serve as warning to the U.S. when dealing with future military conflicts
