El presente artículo pretende incrustarse en el debate acerca de la legitimidad de la representación política.
Así, basándose en un ensayo de Sartori, se argumentará que a pesar de que las distinciones representación/representatividad y mandato privado/mandato político, son argumentos fuertes, no son decisivos en legitimar la prohibición del mandato imperativo. De tal suerte se argumentará que las condiciones y sujetos que garantizaba el mandato representativo han cambiado, por lo cual, la legitimidad de una prohibición absoluta de figuras como el recall aparejadas al mandato imperativo es debatible, pero no manifiestamente necesarias.

This article strives to study the debate of the legitimacy of political representation. Taking as ground Sartori�s defense of political representation, the article arguments that even thou distinctions such as representation/representativeness and private mandate/political mandate, are strong arguments, they are not decisive and fail to legitimate the prohibition of imperative mandate. As such, it will be argued that conditions and subjects that were guaranteed by representative mandate have changed, and therefore, the legitimacy of an absolute prohibition of figures such as recall (based on imperative mandate) it�s debatable, and not strictly necessary.
