  • Resumen
    • Between the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth century, American Reverend Robert Jenkins Nevin (1839-1906) created in Rome, at the Church of St. Paul's Within the Walls of which ha was the rector, a huge collection of Italian paintings, consisting mostly of works from central Italy. Among them is a small but distinguished group of Venetian panels of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth centurires, from Paolo Veneziano to Carlo Crivelli. This essay traces the collecting events of these works, analyzing also the historiographical issues and individual philological problems, offering new insights into issues related to the history and reconstruction of missing polyptychs. It is lastly given prominence to contacts maintained by the Reverend with notable members of the international connoisseurship, such as Bernard Berenson and Frederick M. Perkins.
