Resumen de Edward-King Tenison: un photographe primitif irlandais en Normandie

Didier Mouchel

  • Following the discovery in the departmental archives of the Seine-Maritime, of rare, unpublished, large formate, salt paper prints reproducing locations in Haute and Basse Normandiy, as well as view of Spain, all by Edward-King Tenison, the present article provides the occasion to document these images and to offer several hypotheses concerning their context, which might help to date them, especially the views of Normandy. The connection established with the Abbot Cochet, Haute-Normand erudite, member of the "Commission des Antiquités de Seine-Inférieure" and of the "Société des Antiquaries de Normandie", leads to consider a period around 1854, a voyage through various sites (Gothic monuments along the Seine and in Caen) and a context (monumental and heritage views) for the advent of Tenison in Normandy.
