  • Resumen
    • Recent restoration in the Collegiata of S. Oreste has brought to light a mural painting of the Four Evangelist and God the Father blessing in the under-arch of the choir which the author relates to the account given by van Mander with reference to the two artists. She also publishes a document which confirms van Mander's account but alludes to a more complex decoration. The author explains the discrepancy as the result of major alterations to the apse made in the 18th century. She examines the fresco and distinguishes the two hands, attributing to Spranger the more accomplished parts. After a brief account of Spranger's Italian period, the author takes into consideration the possibility that the commission might have been modified as a result of the pressure exercited by Cardinal Farnese who was anxious to engage Spranger in his service.
