Resumen de "Retrovie" e "transizioni": ipotesi di rinnovamento della scultura italiana dalla crisi dell'informale alla Biennale del 1962
The article examines the problem of the renewal of Italian sculpture from the crisis of informal art at the end of the 1950s to the new proposals presented at the Biennale in Venice in 1962. Taking as her starting point his thoughts expressed in his essay "La scultura lingua morta", the author analyses the activity of artists and critics involved at that moment in the debate surrounding the crisis of informal art and the need to find a new relationship between art and society, and in particular between monumental sculpture and urban environment. After summarizing the facts of the 1960 Biennale, the article gives a documented reconstruction of the situation preceding the retrospective shows of Martini and Giacometti and the invitations to Italian sculptors to present their work at the 1962 Biennale, concluding with the reactions of the contemporary critics.
