  • Resumen
    • The essay analyses Andriolo de' Santi's corpus by focusing on previously neglected aspects and formulating some news attributions. Original elements include: the artist's contribution to the monument of Rizzardo VI (m. 1335) at Serravalle (Vittorio Veneto) and an attribution to the master of the funeral monument of Giovanni della Scala (m. 1359) in Verona. From a reappraisal of the documents pertaining to the chapel of San Jacopo in the basilica of St Anthony (1372-75) in Padua it is posible to infer that Andriolo was referring to a drawing attached to the contract for the work, possibly by Altichiero: the pictorial decoration, sculpture and architecture seen to perfectly fit within a single project. Possible models and sources of inspiration have been sought for each of the sculptur's works. The difficulty now lies in clearly distinguishing which parts may be ascribed to Andriolo and which to his many collaborators, even though it seems likely that the master himself is to be credited with the conception of the projects and the execution of the more life-like and expressive sculpturres.
