Este artículo presenta un análisis crítico de la teoría construccionista propuesta por el matemático Seymour Papert y las posibilidades pedagógicas en la enseñanza de las ciencias sociales. Se explica la relación entre construccionismo y constructivismo, se identifican los roles del docente, el estudiante y la escuela en entornos construccionistas, y se analiza la aplicabilidad de la propuesta curricular de las ciencias sociales desde ésta metodología. Finalmente se hace claridad sobre las ventajas de las TIC en entornos construccionistas para el desarrollo de habilidades cognitivas, procedimentales y actitudinales en el área de Ciencias Sociales.

This article presents a critical analysis of the constructivist theory proposed by the mathematician Seymour Papert and the pedagogic possibilities in the teaching of the social sciences. The relation between constructionism and constructivism, the roles of the teacher are identified, the student and the school in environments constructionists, and is analyzed the applicability of the curricular proposal of the social sciences from this one methodology.Finally clarity is done on the advantages of the TIC in constructionist environments for the development of cognitive, procedural skills and Behaviors in the area of Social Sciences
