Resumen de El equipo multidisciplinario en el tratamiento ortodóncico del disminuido psíquico profundo

  Se describen algunas de las maloclusiones más frecuentes en los pacientes disminuidos psíquicos profundos, tratamiento de las mismas y las modificaciones a los tratamientos ideales que se plantean por las limitaciones físicas, psíquicas o familiares que presentan estos pacientes. Van a ser tratados dentro de un equipo multidisciplinario entre pediatras, logopedas, psicólogos, sociólogos, etc. Se expone cuál va a ser la misión de cada uno de ellos en el tratamiento ortodóncico y cómo pueden ayudar al odontólogo o estomatólogo a realizarlo.

  This study reports some of the most frequent occlusion abnormalities in patients with profound mental retardation. Management of these conditions by the standard treatment approach is hampered by actual physical, psychic, or family related Iimitations, and these patients need to be treated by a multidisciplinary team in wich pediatricians, psychologists, sociologists, and speech specialists, among others are involved.

  The particular task to be carried out by each specialist in relation to the patient's orthodontic treatment and the manner in which they can help the dentist or the stomatologist to perfomed and described.
