Resumen de Succión digital y parámetros oclusales: estudio en niños de 3 a 6 años de edad

En 1.297 niños preescolares se estudian los efectos que sobre determinados parámetros oclusales tiene el hábito de succión digital. Así, aparte de una prevalencia del 11,7% y una mayor tendencia al hábito en las niñas de nuestro medio, hemos podido comprobar que el hábito de succión digital determina la presencia, estadísticamente significativa, de alteraciones oclusales que como los resaltes aumentados, las mordidas abiertas y cruzadas y otras son necesario diagnosticar precozmente en dentición temporal con objeto de evitar su progresión y transmisión a la dentición permanente.

In 1,297 preschool children, the actions that on given occlusal parameters has the finger-sucking habit are studied. Thus, apart a prevalence from the 11.7% and a greater tendency to the habit in the girls of our medium, we have been able to prove that the finger-sucking habit determines the presence, statisticaly significant, of occlusal alterations like, the increased overjet, the open bite, posterior cross-bite and others. lt is necessary to diagnose precocious in temporary dentition, with the purpose of avoiding their progression and transmission to the permanent dentition.
