Resumen de La memoria desfalleciente: el retorno sintomático de la guerra cristera

Fernando M. González

  • Some of the main characteristics of the religious conflict called "la cristiada" (1926-1929) are examinated in this article. The notion of the Freudian symptom is used in an analogical way in the analysis of such characteristics: things that were silenced and displaced appear in the present as "legends" that are neither homogeneous nor consistent. This article affirms that the Catholic hierarchy has not taken responsability for its participation in the armed movement and in the later negociation of the so-called "cristeros" with the goverment. The non-elaborated contradictions of that time re-appear, symptomatically, in the series of beatifications undertaken by the bishops from 1988 to the present.
