¿Cómo pueden funcionar la cultura y el patrimonio como mecanismos de exclusión?

    La cultura, el patrimonio y el uso de sus activaciones pueden aportar mucho al progreso de sociedades y a reforzar la identidad colectiva que un país quiera reflejar, pero muchas veces la exclusión de la comunidad en el desarrollo estos proyectos, así como la explotación comercial de sitios históricos y patrimoniales puede causar la modificación o extinción de la misma cultura que se busca destacar.

    Tales son los casos que se exponen en este artículo, mostrando estudios particulares de gentrificación y exclusión, relacionados a su vez con la pérdida de autenticidad de los valores culturales que se quieren destacar y olvidando que dicha cultura y patrimonio han sido creados por las mismas sociedades que en estos casos están siendo excluídas.

    Culture, heritage and its use can be of great contribution to the progress of societies and reinforce the collective identity that a country wants to reflect, but often the exclusion of community members in developing these projects and commercial exploitation of heritage and historic sites can cause the modification or extinction of the same culture that wants to be highlighted. Such are the cases presented in this article about specific gentrification and exclusion situations related with the authenticity loss of the cultural values that want to be highlighted and sometimes forgetting that this culture and heritage have been created by the same communities and societies that in this cases are being excluded.
