We analyze the scope and importance that the Revista Mexicana de Física (RMF) has had in the Mexican and Latin American physical science community, from two points of view: the author(s) institution and the different fields within physics of the published papers over a five years period (2007-2011). We find that almost every Mexican scientific institution that does research in physical science has publised in RMF over the mentioned period. The presence of other Latin American institution is also illustrated. We also show the great diversity of fields (according to the declares PACS^® codes) covered in the RMF papers, which confirms the general physics naure of our journal.
