  • Throughout the career, he continually found additional ways to use his skills as a musi- cian and documentarian. like the other Seegers, mike took on a strenuous workload. he suffered from tensions associated with a life of deadlines. two of his marriages ended in divorce, and he seemed distant to many people. but author bill c. malone tells us that the Seeger family valued accomplishment above all. in mike Seeger's case, the music world noticed his contributions. mike's reputation as an authority grew through his ca- reer, and malone displays the vast mike Seeger legacy as one that lies in the many old-time jam sessions that dot the north American landscape, the holdings he deposited in folk cultural ar- chives, the documentary and commercial re- cordings he created, and the resurgent popular- ity of old-time music today.
