The article discusses how to create an effective whistleblowing program, as U.S. public companies are required to have under the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial regulatory-reform law. The authors describe four aspects of establishing a sound environment for whistleblowing, among them the hiring of ethical employees, employee training, creating proper incentives and safeguards for whistleblowing, and implementation of procedures for following up on all reports of wrongdoing.
