Análisis crítico del discurso del Ministerio Internacional Iglesia Fuente de Agua Viva en Puerto Rico: un acercamiento etnográfico

    En esta investigación se analizan algunas de la s estructuras lingüísticas y las estrategias persuasivas utilizadas en varios discursos religiosos del Ministerio Internacional I glesia Fuente de Agua Viva (FA V) 1 . El objetivo es identificar aquellos mecanismos que �legitiman el discurso e influyen en el p ensamiento y las acciones de los asistentes� (van Dijk, 1993).

    Asimismo, se pretende demostrar el uso constante de dichas estrategias y estructuras en los diferentes discursos. Para realizar la investigación se utilizó el marco teórico sobre análisis críti co del discurso propuesto por van Dijk (1993). El mismo plantea que el discurso no está constituido solamente por la emisión del mensaje, sino que incluye significado, comprensión y razonamiento. La teoría, además, establece que la eficacia y el poder del discurso se realiza n a través del uso de algún baluarte social, en cuyo caso queda aquí compuesto por la religión.

    Por último, se realiza un análisis etnolingüístico a partir de la etnografía de la comunicación de Hymes (1974) para comprobar el uso de los aspectos de la sociedad y la cultura puertorriqueña que se insertan en el lenguaje verbal y no verbal. Las conclusiones de la investigación permiten identificar aquellas condiciones lingüísticas y contextuales que respaldan la efectividad de dicho discurso religioso entre la población.

    This research project analyzes the linguistic structures and rhetorical strategies used in three different discourses of the Ministerio Internacional Iglesia Fuente de Agua Viva (The Fountain of Living Waters Church Internation al) (FAV, its Spanish acronym) 2 with the aim of identifying mechanisms that �legitimize the discourse and influence the thoughts (and, indirectly, the actions) of attendees� (van Dijk, 1993). Also, it wants to demonstrate how those strategies and structures are constantly used in the discourses of the church. The results of this analysis will enable us to detail the contextual conditions that make these religious discourses effe ctive. This research analyzes several aspects that shape part of these discourses departing from the theoretical framework of van Dijk�s critical analysis of discourse (1993).

    This theoretical framework proposes that discourse is not composed solely of ve rbal action, but also includes meaning, unde rstanding, and interpretation.

    We also examined, through participatory observation, the non - verbal elements of the context in which the discourses are generated that influence the construction of the message
