Resumen de Dispersión de juveniles de Cigüeña Blanca (Ciconia ciconia) en Córdoba (S de España)

Of 91 White Stork chicks rnarked with PVC rings in Córdoba province during 1990- 1993, six were found breeding in the sarne urea between 199 1 and 1994. Another three birds were found in the nearby provinces of Sevilla, Huelva and Ciudad Real. The average distance frorn natal to breeding nest was 80.7 krn (S. D. =8 1.8, N= 13, rnaxirnurn distance=250 krn, rninirnurn=O). Results suggest that the detected increase in the White Stork breeding population of Córdoba and elsewhere in Spain could be due to the low rnortality rate of juveniles that return to breed near their natal areas.
