  • The control of a Curlew Sandpiper Calidris ferruginea ringed 17 years before it was recaptured is reported. The bird was ringed as a yearling on 5 Septernber 1975 at Friesland (The Netherlands). On 3 August 1 992 the bird was retrapped at the Ebro Delta (Spain), 6 173 days after ringing date. The rnaxirnurn longevity reported for this species up to now was of only six years. With the control reported here, rnaxirnurn recorded longevity of Curlew Sandpipers becornes comparable with those of other srnall shorebirds.
