  • The present distribution of the Monk Parakeet in Catalonia (NE Spain is described. The distribution map has been drawn on the basis of informotion obtained by inquiry. The Monk Parakeet is a scarce and local species that can be observed mainly in coastal localities, especially in the city oF Barcelona. The present distribution follows temperate climate with low rainfall, in areas with high human concentrations and gordens with palm trees. However, colonization is still in an initial stage and probably the area of distribution will be modified in coming years.
