Este artículo trata de la participación de los obreros españoles en las obras de construcción del Canal de Panamá de 1904 a 1914. Se analiza su procedencia. cuántos eran, la forma en que fueron reclutados y llegaron a Panamá. También se refieren sus condiciones de trabajo y de vida y sus respuestas a las situaciones que vivieron durante su estadía y trabajo en la Zona del Canal: las reacciones a las condiciones laborales y al medio, las acciones que tomaron y las formas de organización. Se recuperan algunas de sus voces en documentos de la época.

This paper it's about the participation of the Spanish workers in the construction of the Panama Canal from 1904 to 1914. lt analyze their origino how many they were, and the way they were recruited and arrived to Panama. Also, it refers to their work and life conditions and their altitudes to the situations that they lived during their stay and work at the Panama Canal Zone: the reactions to the working conditions and the envi- ronrnent, the actions they took and their ways of organization. It recovers sorne of their voices through contemporary documents.
