  • Resumen
    • Alexandre Delay, born in 1941, has been creating his "Figures Peintes", since 2002. These are a collection of postcards reproducing works of art with a nude figure, on which the artist directly intervenes. On each card, he isolates each of the figures from its context by circling it in white paint, masking the rest of the image. This ongoing series currently includes seven hundred parts. The entire group forms an art history that is neither chronological nor academic, filtered only by the life and the experience of the painter - what has been seen and accomplishes.

After having re-established the context of photographic reproduction and the apparition of artistic postcard, the author presents the work of Alexandre Delay. He places it within the tradition of artistic gestures such as retouching or appropriation, and characterizes it as an undertaking for the rescue of devalued images, restored to their grandeur in the "Figures Peintes".
