Resumen de Approche logique de la détermination

Razeq Afzali, Jean-Pierre Desclés, Anca Pascu

  • This article analyses a certain number of uses which come within the N de N syntactic pattern in French and its uses in Persian and Pashto. It tends to expand to a semantic scheme which is commom to these three languages within the framework of a general theory of abstract locating, where an X entity is determined in relation to a Y one. A dual scheme, that is "Y determines Y", is associated with this scheme. Both schemes are connected with etre, avoir, de structures patterns. A certain number of examples following the N de N pattern do come under more specific schemes of locating such as: location, being an ingredient of, belonging, inclusion, or origin. Yet a great deal of examples seem not to come within this framework. However, a more intensional interpretation allows to place these examples - such as ville de Kaboul or chien de chasse - under the same scheme of abstract locating.
