Resumen de Alimentary preference of Sitophilus Oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to brands of commercial rice from Peru.

  Entre febrero y abril 2012 se evaluó la preferencia alimenticia del Sitophilus oryzae "gorgojo del arroz" sobre cuatro marcas comerciales de arroz en el Perú: Criollo rendidor®, Chulucanas®, Costeño® y Samán®. Se encontró que el "gorgojo del arroz" presenta mayor preferencia de alimentación por la marca Costeño®. Sin embargo, los niveles de oviposición fueron variables, con una mayor población de adultos en la marca Samán®.

  Between February and April 2012 were evaluated the feeding preferences of S. oryzae on four brands of commercial rice from Peru: criollo rendidor®, Chulucanas®, Costeño® and Samán®. It was found that the "rice weevil" showed a food preference for costeño brand. However, oviposition levels were variable, with a larger population of adults in the Saman® brand.
