Resumen de The Dundee waterfront: A missed opportunity for planned regeneration

John McCarthy

  • The recent emphasis placed on the property-led regeneration of inner urban areas has been particularly apparent in the waterfront areas of port cities. Such cities have frequently used their obsolescent waterfront areas as catalysts for the regeneration of a larger urban area, with varying degrees of success. The history of Dundee's waterfront area, however, appears to have been one of incremental decision making prevailing over longer-term strategy, with the result that opportunities to realize the full potential of the area in the context of the city have been missed.
